A year ago, I was privileged to join a team building getaway to Camotes Islands with my colleagues. That was my first wanderlust adventure then. That was the time that I realized that I have a passion for travel, my desire to discover places I've never been, explore what a place has to offer and experience new things that I've never done before.
Camotes is composed of the islands located in the Camotes sea. The island group is located east of Cebu island, southwest of Leyte island and north of Bohol island. It is 34 nautical miles from Cebu City and is part of Cebu.
Camotes maybe is a small island but for adventure and nature lovers, I guess they have found their place.
My journey to Camotes goes like this. First, we met at SM City Cebu to catch a jeepney bound to Danao City. Fare for the jeepney ride is around Php 35.00. Another option is to ride a bus going to North of Cebu and drop by Danao City. Buses going to north of Cebu island is located at Cebu North Bus Terminal. You may also opt to take a VHire going to Danao located at the SM City Cebu Terminal. From Danao port, there is RORO vessel (Jomalia Shipping Lines) that will take you to Consuelo Port in Camotes Island. Fare is around Php 200.00.
If you're planning to go to Camotes just like any other trips, one must consider where to stay, the places that you want to visit and the activities that you will do to add more fun in your escapade. For our group, we already arranged an island tour offered by the resort where we stayed in Camotes. The resort was located in Santiago White Beach. Santiago white beach is a public beach and is the most popular white beach in the island. It has a long shoreline of white sand perfect for the beach activities. You can play, stroll, strike a pose or even fulfill your vanity with your beach selfies.
After checking in, our tour guide first brought us to Paraiso Cave. It is a smaller compared to the second cave that we visited yet who would not want to bathe in a cool, romantic, secluded fresh water pool?
After taking a plunge in Paraiso Cave, we then headed to another cave yet a bigger place to explore, the Timubo cave. You can't go on spelunking but you can enjoy watching the mineral formations, stalactites and stalagmites while going deeper down the cave. The cave was enchanting. You can also enjoy swimming and exploring the cave with your friends.
After visiting caves, the next place that we visited was the Lake Danao Park which for me, is the most beautiful place that we visited for that day. In Lake Danao Park, you can do kayaching and horse back riding yet I chose to relax and fulfill myself by enjoying the view. It was picturesque.
The next stop was the Mangodlong Beach Resort. Mangodlong beach resort offers unique rock formations and the deep blue sea perfect for cliff diving.
After the whole island tour, we then headed to Santiago White Sand. It was low tide which makes a longer shoreline that is the perfect playground. In Santiago, you can also choose from a variety of foods to feast on.
I went home happy bringing along with me my memories during my first wanderlust adventure to Camotes islands. My passion for travelling may bring me to different places but I will never forget my first wanderlust trip.
Thank you for reading! I am new to travel blogging and I just want to share my adventures with you.
