The El Nido Archipelago

Approximately a six-hour ride from the capital of Palawan lies the unspoiled coastal town of El Nido. In Puerto Princesa International Airport travel agencies will you offer you their tour packages but if you want to do it yourself one can easily ride the van that will take you straight ahead to El Nido town.

I first headed to Austria's guesthouse that offers affordable rooms for backpackers but unfortunately all the rooms and beds are occupied for that night so I decided to stay in Baller's Lodge that offers single fan room for Php 500 per night. That was my home for four days and four nights in El Nido. The caretaker was nice for taking care of its guest. Xie xie!

In El Nido, there are five kinds of tours that you can choose from: El Nido Island Hopping Tour A,  El Nido Island Hopping Tour B, El Nido Island Hopping Tour C, El Nido Island Hopping Tour D and El Nido Inland Tour. I personally chose Tour A and Tour C. Lunch is already included in each tour.

El Nido Tour A lets you explore El Nido's best lagoons and some beaches and El Nido Tour C takes you to see El Nido's huge rock formations, some of El Nido's islands and underwater bounty. Boats for island hopping usually departs from El Nido town beach at 9:30 AM.

El Nido Island Hopping Tour A

7 Commando's beach
The island got its name from the story of the seven soldiers who lived and got stranded in this island during the World War II.

The Big Lagoon
This is the highlight of El Nido Island Hopping Tour A where you can kayak on emerald green waters.

The Small Lagoon
The way to enter small lagoon is by swimming through the giant limestones that serve as the gate.

Snorkeling at Shimizu island
I enjoyed swimming, snorkeling in crystal blue waters and sight-seeing a limestone view of the karsts.

El Nido Island Hopping Tour C

Snorkeling at Helicopter island
This island is named Helicopter island obviously because of its helicopter like formation. Famous for being part of the film Bourne Legacy. Helicopter island's underwater scenery won't disappoint you too.

The Hidden Beach

Snorkeling and lunch at Star Beach

The Secret Beach
Gray limestone karsts formation on milky white sand.

Matinloc Shrine
Matinloc shrine is also a pleasant view to behold. There is a statue of a virgin enshrined on the island.

Sunrise at the twin beach of Nacpan and Calitang
A place where Nacpan Beach meets with Calitang Beach. It is one of the most secluded and pristine places in El Nido.

Canopy Walk

This is the safe version of Taraw rock climbing. It lets you see the whole Bacuit bay from above too.

Precious Tea House - a cozy hub for students and professionals

Precious Tea House is a small tea shop in the urban town of Minglanilla that primarily serves milk tea and snacks as well. Milktea is a drink that originated in Taiwan but is becoming popular in other Asian countries.  Milktea is a healthy snack for its favorite ingredient milk is combined with different sinkers. Precious flavors include; cream cheese, hokkaido, double dutch, oreo, strawberry, cappucino and caramel. They also serve fruit shakes such as mango and avocado float. They also have our favorite snack french fries and panini which is an Italian sandwich made of bread.  Among other tea shops nearby, I choose this as a go-to place to have my interviews because of its inspiring atmosphere and friendly business owner. I find this nest as a potential venue for professionals to host client meetings because they offer free wifi connection. Students can also spend their afternoon here to study and create their projects. Their price range is from Php 75.00 to Php 150.00. I am ...

Dining in at Gustoso Pizza Shop

When I am in my hometown  Gustoso pizza and pasta serves its customers with authentic pasta dishes.  A pinch of bite of their carbonara, spaghetti, and benne is flavorful. Their boxes of delightful pizza flavors vary. I am loyal to their Hawaiian pizza.  For those who want a decent meal I must say that their pork chicken dishes are satisfying. It's atmosphere is nostalgic. Dining in with friends is fun. Taking pictures of our food is happiness. When I am in our province, I sleep before 10:00pm. The environment is not stressful unlike the big challenge of the city life which is the long commute because of traffic. I care about my mental health so I am taking it into consideration living in one of the municipalities of South Cebu cause I get close to nature. Nature gives us hope that no matter how heavy our problems reading a book in any genre beside a living plant on a coast gives us a positive outlook in life.  Depression can hit people whether they like it or not i...
