Bacolod Travel Diary

New Government Center
An elementary buddy invited me to join her in Bacolod last year. We met on a Friday evening in McDonalds Colon and took our dinner before we went to Cebu North Bus Terminal. RORO buses going to Bacolod City can be found in both Cebu South and North bus terminals but trips are more frequent in the latter.

The bus departed at 2 AM and arrived in Toledo City at 4 AM.  We boarded in our decks for the boat trip going to San Carlos City. We arrived in San Carlos at 6 AM and rode the bus again going to Bacolod via El Salvador. We arrived in Bacolod City past 9 AM already and checked in at East Square Inn. We booked through booking.com because the booking website does not require a credit card for us to reserve. The hotel has good reviews too. We had a good stay except for the TV that was not functioning. The inn is walking distance to the city's entertainment and restaurant hubs.

We arrived in Bacolod City late so we were not able to go and see Balay Negrense in Silay City. We met our tour guide in Lion's Park Grill Haus at Bacolod's Manokan Country where we had our lunch and tasted Bacolod's chicken inasal. It is a must try place to go to because of their pleasant food service, accommodating crew, and Bacolod's remarkably delicious and flavorful skewered chicken.

After lunch, the guide took us to Bacolod City's New Government Center. Inside Bacolod's new government center are detailed, realistic and artistic creations of Bacolod's local artists of the city's past and present leaders.

After this, we went to Campuestohan. Read my blog about Campuestohan here.
After Campuestohan is Bacolod's The Ruins. Read my blog about The Ruins here
After The Ruins, the tour guide took us Calea Cakes and Pastries. It is a must try in Bacolod City because of its wide array of sweet cakes and goodies.

We went back to East Square Inn and took a rest. We had our dinner at Sander's Coffee and Sausages. In the morning, we had our breakfast and rode a tricycle going to Bacolod City Ceres Bus Terminal. Across it, you can find vans that will take you to Lakawon Island. You can read my blog about Lakawon Island here.
We departed from Lakawon Island at 5PM and rode the bus going to Escalante City and dropped off at Sagay City. In Sagay, we rode the Ceres bus that goes directly to Cebu North Bus Terminal via Tabuelan.

Best of Camiguin

I am always in awe with God's marvels so I am writing again another natural gem in my country, the island of Camiguin. This is a volcanic island in Northern Mindanao that is bestowed with rich natural pleasures for its waterfalls, hot springs and island beach destinations.  Katibawasan Falls There are direct domestic flights from international airports in our country such as Manila International Airport and Mactan Cebu International Airport to the "Island of Fire". This island is also a boat ride away from Cebu nautical ports. First hot spring is "Ardent Hotspring". What awaits visitors is a tranquil experience because of its thermal water . It sits directly at the foot of Mt.Hibok-Hibok and is surrounded by lush forests. Another tourist destination is Mambukal which is made up of three sulfur pools and two swimming pools .  Ardent Hotspring Camiguin is also rich in waterfall destinations. Among these waterfalls I personally witness "Katibawasan Falls...

Dining in at Gustoso Pizza Shop

When I am in my hometown  Gustoso pizza and pasta serves its customers with authentic pasta dishes.  A pinch of bite of their carbonara, spaghetti, and benne is flavorful. Their boxes of delightful pizza flavors vary. I am loyal to their Hawaiian pizza.  For those who want a decent meal I must say that their pork chicken dishes are satisfying. It's atmosphere is nostalgic. Dining in with friends is fun. Taking pictures of our food is happiness. When I am in our province, I sleep before 10:00pm. The environment is not stressful unlike the big challenge of the city life which is the long commute because of traffic. I care about my mental health so I am taking it into consideration living in one of the municipalities of South Cebu cause I get close to nature. Nature gives us hope that no matter how heavy our problems reading a book in any genre beside a living plant on a coast gives us a positive outlook in life.  Depression can hit people whether they like it or not i...

Precious Tea House - a cozy hub for students and professionals

Precious Tea House is a small tea shop in the urban town of Minglanilla that primarily serves milk tea and snacks as well. Milktea is a drink that originated in Taiwan but is becoming popular in other Asian countries.  Milktea is a healthy snack for its favorite ingredient milk is combined with different sinkers. Precious flavors include; cream cheese, hokkaido, double dutch, oreo, strawberry, cappucino and caramel. They also serve fruit shakes such as mango and avocado float. They also have our favorite snack french fries and panini which is an Italian sandwich made of bread.  Among other tea shops nearby, I choose this as a go-to place to have my interviews because of its inspiring atmosphere and friendly business owner. I find this nest as a potential venue for professionals to host client meetings because they offer free wifi connection. Students can also spend their afternoon here to study and create their projects. Their price range is from Php 75.00 to Php 150.00. I am ...
