- Apo island is not a nesting ground but a feeding ground for female turtles. You can distinguish a male turtle from a female turtle by its tails. Male turtles have long tails like a wizard while female turtles have very small tails.
- A home to over 650 documented fish species and estimated to have over 400 species of corals.
From Dumaguete City, we took an easy ride going to
Bayawan and drop at
Malatapay market in
Zamboanguita. An easy ride in Dumaguete City refers to a multicab ride. Then we walked to the ferry station and paid for the
Php 100 environmental fee,
Php 300 guide fee for a group of four people. The ride to the island from the ferry takes 45 minutes and expect huge waves while going to the island. You will be welcomed with a unique volcanic rock formation. On the island, the snorkel gear and the life jacket costs
Php 100 each. Aside from snorkeling and diving, you can also trek to the island's lighthouse. After a half day snorkeling, we took our lunch and went back to Dumaguete City.
