Have you heard of Lakawon? This banana-shaped island on the seas of Western Visayas has been developed to become the small Ibiza of the Philippines. The resort claims to have the biggest Tawhaii floating bar in Asia. Your next vacation spot could be right on this quickly becoming resort destination in the province of Negros Occidental.
The 15-hectare island can be found approximately 3kms off the coast of Cadiz City. The island got its name because during low tide you can just walk from the port to the island. To walk in the local language is lakaw, hence the name of the island Lakawon. If you are coming from Bacolod, ride a van or bus bound for Cadiz City at the Ceres Bus Terminal of Bacolod. Upon arriving at Cadiz, hire a tricycle that will take you to Cadiz Viejo where the port to Lakawon Island is located.

We spent a day at Lakawon Island Resorts and Spa to conclude our trip in the city of smiles. Upon arriving at the port, tourists are required to register at the island resort's office and get their boarding pass. A day tour to the island is available from 8am until 5pm and is on a first come first serve basis.

We chose to take our lunch at the resort because they already serve foods and drinks to choose from. Aside from that, their floating bar offers foods and refreshments that you can expect from a usual bar. We spent our afternoon taking a bite of their nachos and sipping on a glass of shake. That sounds like a great vacation every workaholic and busy person deserves.
